The 14-story, 603,000 SF, George H. W. Bush State Office Building is the flagship building and part of the Texas State Capital Complex which is an $895 million project. Modern glass designs contribute to the stunning lobby of this office tower, including a feature wall that pays tribute to the 41^st President. Various images, the first dating back to 1942, were recreated on glass by GGI with the company’s Alice® Direct to Glass Printing technology.

George H W Bush State Building public art display.

GGI fabricated 18 each 3/8" (10mm) Crystal Light Low Iron tempered glass panels 59 7/8" x 71 1/4" with flat polished edges and Alice® Direct-to-Glass printed images for the feature wall that is prominently displayed in the lobby of the GHWB State Building. The challenge was in working with images taken over the course of 75+ years using different technologies and creating a cohesive aesthetic of good quality.

GGI furnished the digitally imaged glass and the Crystal Light satin etched glass at the top to ColorKote. The sandblasted lettering was produced by Quality Glass Works [Watertown, CT] and the metallic back coating for all the glass was performed by ColorKote—who also functioned as the project manager and coordinated all that was needed for the finished installation.

The entire lobby is a presentation of modern glass design. ColorKote orchestrated the project team and worked closing with the design team for two years to bring this project to a successful launch.

The George H. W. Bush State Office Building will house over 20 state agencies. State employees, residents, and tourists will enjoy the modern amenities offered by this captivating focal point of the Texas State Capital Complex.
