Palo Alto Medical Foundation
The Palo Alto Medical Foundation Sunnyvale was designed to replace an existing medical facility built 55-years prior. The new 250,000 SF structure is a world-class cancer treatment center that is completely modernized. Inspired by a William and Morris wallpaper design, a custom leaf design is digitally printed on the glass transforming the structural façade into a functional work of art. GGI’s Alice® direct-to-glass printing process allows the pattern to fade as it moves upwards, fulfilling the architect’s vision of creating an interior garden by animating the interior space with a shadow play of light.

The ceramic frit artwork provides energy efficiency and shading for greater indoor comfort in addition to the unique aesthetic created for the structural glass application.
GGI furnished 900 SF of low-iron tempered glass printed with Alice® direct-to-glass printing technology. The decorative glass is incorporated into 1″ (25mm) OA insulating glass units with Solarban® low-emissivity coating for energy-efficiency.

The details of the design are captured beautifully with high-resolution ceramic frit ink that is tempered to fuse the artwork into the glass surface for lasting results.
