Z Bar, Peninsula Hotel Chicago
The Z Bar rooftop lounge located in The Peninsula Hotel Chicago, provides iconic views of the city, stunning artistic design and world-class luxury to the hotel’s cultured guests. The canopy glass was produced utilizing multiple layers of ultra-clear low iron glass with a custom design using Alice®, GGI’s Direct-to-Glass Printing process. The laminated glass configuration and the ceramic frit ink provides a durable decorative glass solution ideal for outdoor applications.
Alice® Direct-to-Glass printing is incorporated into a 13/16” Low-iron laminated glass configuration. The SentryGlas® Ionoplast interlayer is clearer than traditional PVB interlayers and it allows for the edges to be exposed to the elements.
The oversized glass panels were crated and shipped to the jobsite ready to be installed. The floor extensions on each side of the crate are design to prevent the case from falling over during transport or on the jobsite. This protects the glass against breakage and makes for a safer jobsite as the crate is opened and the glass is being installed.
The large decorative glass canopy is both stunning and functional as it allows natural daylighting to be transmitted while protecting this indoor-outdoor space from the elements.
